I need to get it off my chest

I think its time for some confessin' 'round these parts!

*I get super confused in the meat aisle of the grocery store. Sometimes I just kind of poke at the packages until I randomly choose one.

*I kind of do that when I pick out melons in the produce department. And some vegetables.

*Since I have been sick, Craig has chosen to sleep on the couch for the last couple of nights. I have kind of been loving the extra room in bed. (I do miss him when I first wake up. I'm not heartless y'all)

*Sometimes I feel guilty or bad if I haven't posted in a while. But then I remember that my priorities are to be a good wife, teacher, friend first, and then my blog can fit in after that. Then I stop feeling bad.

*I put stickers on the calendar on days that I go to the gym. I really love when I get to put a sticker on it.  (My mom should have used a chore chart when I was a kid!)

*When I start a book, there is a good chance I will ignore everything/person in my life until I'm done with it. This weekend I read Dark Places by Gillian Flynn. I ignored my dog and my husband. The cats took turn sitting on my lap. (I highly recommend it, especially if you were a fan of Gone Girl.) The library just emailed me that another Gillian Flynn novel is ready for me to check out. I wish it was movie day at school so I could read. (KIDDING!!! sort of)

*I keep pinning baby costumes on Pinterest.

Confessions

A while ago I use to write these mid-week confession posts. E hasn't hosted the link up lately, but I am feeling the need to get some things off my chest.

I confess...

  • I don't know the difference between "effect" and "affect"
  • I am a terrible speller. I cannot spell definitely. Every time I type I get the red squiggly line under it, and use spell check to correct it. When I am writing it out, I don't even try. I just write "def."
  • I have never read The Great Gatsby and I really have no idea what its about.
  • I pretty much kill every plant. Except for this one. And I think a mutant has taken over it.

I don't think snap dragons are supposed to look like this. Erika?

  • I only have 14 days left of teaching this school year, and I am ready to be done. (I'm not showing movies everyday... yet)
  • Tonight was the first time I ever had pomegranate seeds. They were on my fro yo. I liked them, but I still don't know if they are worth the hassle of cutting open a full pom.
  • Every time I watch a military homecoming I cry. Every. Single. Time. Especially if it involves kids.
What do you need to confess?

Mid week confessions are back!

I haven't written out my midweek confessions in quite awhile. Trust me, it's not because I don't have anything confession worthy. It is now my first free Wednesday of summer break, and it's time for me to join in the fun!

Right now I should be writing a couple lesson plans that relate to my critical reading training I took last week. But that is boring. Blogging is more fun.

We have Fiestaware dishes in four colors (red, yellow, orange and shamrock). I cannot use two of the same color plates/bowls together. It drives me insane. I love our fun colors, and I want to make sure they all get used. That means the Mister and I have to use different colored plates at dinner. If we are using a bowl and a plate, they must be different colors, but the Mister and I may overlap one color. Typing this out, I realize how crazy it sounds but that's they way it works.

It is really hard impossible for me to start a book, read a chapter or two and then put it down and pick it up at a later day. Nope. I pretty much read a book in a day or two. I thought it was because I was reading fluffy chick-lit type books, but yesterday I read a grown up book, and it was the same way. (Until Tuesday by Luis Carlos Montalvan. It's a book about an Iraq war vet who suffers from severe PTSD and gets a service dog, Tuesday.)
Until Tuesday: A Wounded Warrior and the Golden Retriever Who Saved Him
Amazon
Last March, I entered a picture of my cat on kittenwar.com. I then obsessively watched her stats, and got angry when she lost a match. I erased this confession and rewrote it. Twice. I admit this is kind of embarrassing.
She's so little in this!

I freaking love the Olympics. I was watching the track trials but move over fully clothed runners, the swim trials are on!
Source
Let's just take a moment and be thankful for the summer Olympics.

What are you confessing? Have you been watching the Olympic trials at all?

Midweek confessions

This weekend I FINALLY walked went to the library to return my seriously overdue books. Now I am too embarrassed to go check out the new Charlaine Harris book. I know I will get over it after the last day of school, but I feel like such a dummy when I have overdue fines. I have no clue how people can do things like not pay child support because I always feel guilty when I have any sort of late fee.

I really hate to admit this, but there are students that I am really glad I won't see again after next Wednesday. That's all I have to say about that.

My 8th grade students are all working on an end of the semester project, and it will take them until the end of the school year. It's an alphabet book based on what they have learned in health class. I am shocked  happy to announce that they are fully engaged and working super hard on it. So much so, that I have been grading, packing, checking blogs, and doing other end of the year stuff.

The other day in my leadership class I got to rub chocolate frosting on two of my boys faces. These two boys are kind of a pain, and I enjoyed every second of it.

I keep seeing things that I need to do around my house/yard, and I keep thinking "you will have so much time once school is out for summer, do it then." Then I sit on my butt and watch TV or check blogs.

I don't know how people work year-round without a long break. Seriously, how do you do it??

It was taco night tonight in our little house, and I made sure that I added mushrooms to the taco meat, because I know The Mister loves it. I haven't done that in awhile so I thought he would say something about how he likes the mushrooms, about how great of a wife I am... ANYTHING. What did he say? Nada. Zilch. Even when I pointed them out, he said, "yeah, I've had it lots of times. My mom does it." Boo Mister. Boo.

Midweek Confession Time!

It's Wednesday, so its time to confess! Head over to e, myself and I and link up! Come on, all the cool kids are doing it. You know you want to try it. (I am teaching about peer pressure right now...)

Today I am wearing (at work...) a pair of skinny jeans, TOMS, and a Volunteering is Hot T-Shirt. I am trying to decide if I am trying to look like a middle school kid.

The shirt is from my leadership class (that I teach), so that's more professional, right? (It does increase the chance that I am dressed like a kid however.)

I had been contemplating taking a personal day today, until I realized that today is the day of our annual Spaghetti Lunch that the secretaries at work put on for the staff (for Teacher Appreciation Week.) I missed it one year due to illness and I even considered going in just for lunch that day. Each secretary makes their own sauce and they are all incredible.

I want to own a pair of TOMS in every color/print they make. I got mine on Friday and have worn them pretty much everyday since. The Mister hates them. He calls them expensive slippers. My response? No, those are Uggs.

You know what I hate? Kids with cell phones. Well just when they use them in class...

I really like that One Direction song, What Makes You Beautiful and The Wanted's Glad You Came. Totally reminds me of BSB & n*sync.

#MidweekConfessions

It's Wednesday y'all! Head over to e,myself and I to check out what the cool kids are confessing this week!
-I kind of want a Twitter account. BUT I don't really get Twitter. I just want to hash tag all the things. #don'tknowifIamhashtaggingright

-Rachel at In No Simple Language posted this picture yesterday and I could not stop laughing.
I was a junior or a senior in high school when No Strings Attached came out, and I remember skipping first period so that I would be the first one to own it. #iloven*sync

-Last week I started teaching an after school Zumba class on Tuesdays and Thursdays. I have caught myself prepping way more for that than my real teaching job. #teacherfail

-I'm genuinely happy that Jessica Simpson had her baby. Wasn't she pregnant for like 2 years?? When I told the Mister he looked at me like I was nuts for caring.#yayjsimps

-I get super excited when I pin something on Pinterest and it gets several repins from people I don't know. It makes me feel like I am finally sitting at the popular kids table. #pinterestgivesmeselfesteem.

-I love the Olympics. Like in a stupid way. I love everything leading up to them (Olympic trials anyone?) and everything during them. #WishIcouldgotoLondon

-Our kitchen light burnt out yesterday. Not a big deal, right? Except the last time this happened, it was burnt out for months because both the Mister and I thought the other person should change it. (In fact a friend of ours ended up changing it because he thought it was ridiculous.) I think the same power struggle is on. #wedon'tchooseourbattlesright

Twitter type peeps- did I hash tag right? #lookingforapproval

Mid Week Confessions- Teacher Edition

Like every good Wednesday, I am linking up with E, Myself and I for my mid-week confessions.

As a teacher, I find myself doing a lot of things that I don't entirely know how to do. Running AV equipment, setting up slide shows, coordinating assemblies etc. Mostly I do it because there is no other option. It has to get done so I figure out how to do it. This mid-week confessions post is dedicated to my work life.

1. I really think I bit off more than I can chew with my newest endeavor. I signed up to teach Zumba as an after school program.
Source
And now I will look like that in front of a bunch of middle schoolers. Yikes! In my defense, I have been taking Zumba off and on for about 3 years. I did coach cheer leading for 7 years and I taught PE for 3 years (including dance units). I think I can pull it off, I'm just a little scared of the hip thrusting.

2. One year I coached cross country. What is so funny about that, is it was before I started running. In fact, I don't even think I could run a mile back then.
Source

3. I run all-school assemblies. I hate talking on a microphone in front of big groups. Somehow 4 or 5 times a year I pull it together. I also somehow plan these events to magically run the designated amount of time. Sometimes I walk away and wonder how in the heck I did that.

4. I was fortunate enough to get a job within a month of my December graduation, which meant I only had to substitute for about a month. In that time, I taught high school French, wood shop, biology and  weight lifting. I also taught 6th grade math. The hardest one for me? 6th grade math. I literally had no clue how to do the problems without a calculator. That made for a fun day.
Source
More like dumb teacher
5. I also am in charge of Spirit week every year. I somehow always manage my kids to add pajama day and sports day to the week so I can wear sweats to school twice.

6. The first teaching job I had was to teach 5th-8th grade PE. With the 5th graders I literally played fetch with them and called it Ultimate Frisbee Relay. (I threw the Frisbee and they ran after it and brought it back to me.) This seriously was their favorite game we played. They would beg for it.

Mid Week Confessions

I wasn't going to post confessions this week, but now that its Wednesday night, I think I NEED to, plus I just saw E's warning that confessions aren't happening next week.

Tonight, on my way home from the gym, I had to run to the grocery store to pick up a couple things for dinner. As I was walking in a woman and her young son were behind me. I heard the little guy say "Mom, how come you said I couldn't wear my jammies to the store. That lady is in her jammies and she must have just got out of the bath, cuz she's all wet." It made me laugh, but then I started thinking about how gross and sweaty I must have been for a kid to think I just got out of the bath.

I like to let my cat under the covers on our bed even though the Mister HATES it.

During my prep period today I had to run to the Dollar Store to buy some supplies. While I was there I remembered a Pinterest craft I saw, so I picked up all the supplies for it. I kind of felt like I was breaking the rules. But not enough to put the extra stuff back. (I did pay for it on a separate receipt.)

I am counting down until April 20th when The Lucky One comes out. When did Zac Efron grow up and get so freaking hot??

I really hate when I go to comment on some one's blog and I have to prove I'm not a robot.

I tried to purge my clothes last weekend. My thought was I would give a bunch to Goodwill, then have space to buy more clothes. I got rid of like 3 bags, but it doesn't look empty enough to justify a shopping spree.

Midweek Confessions: A Little Bit of Everything

Time for another session of confession. Hee hee. Last week I started off by confessing how I compare myself and life to others. Your comments/messages were so sweet. It's scary to put things like that out there, but your response was so heartfelt. This week, I have nothing heavy and deep.

-I broke my dog. Monday I did his nails took him out to play on the concrete, and we played too long and he hurt the pads on his feet. Since then he's been hobbling and limping around. I feel so bad.
-Yes, I am too big of a chicken to cut my dogs nails so I play fetch with him in a parking lot to "file" them down.
-So its March, like end of March. I have been reading these mid-week confessions for a while now and women were confessing that their Christmas decorations weren't fully put away in the beginning of February. Our Christmas decorations just got taken out of the living room and put in the attic/garage. The only reason that this happened was because we were putting in new floors. In my defense they were boxed up at least. That makes it better, right?
-My belly button hurts. What's up with that?
-I have been rocking the wife thing this spring break. The Mister has came home to dinner in the oven/on the stove every night this week.
-Why does spring break always throw off my work out routine? It doesn't make sense, I have about 10 extra hours each day (since I am not at work) and some how I don't go to the gym. Fail.
-I don't like colored pants. I don't mind colored shorts, but for some reason brightly colored pants make me cringe. It did take me until this school year to own a pair of skinny jeans, I'm not what you would call a fashionista, so my opinion is probably wrong.
-I haven't told the Mister this yet, and every once in a while he reads this little blog, so don't be mad babe, but yesterday I dropped my staple gun on our brand new floors and put a little gash in them. I'm sure no one will notice it, but who wrecks their new floors without even having them a week?
-On Monday I posted about our new floors. This is by far one of my favorite side effects of our floors:

Midweek Confessions

1.Just to warn you, I'm going to start with something knd of "heavy" for mid-week confessions (feel free to skip to #2): I get jealous. Not of other ladies and my hubby, but of other people's lives: their stuff, their babies, their houses etc. I know that there are other things going on that I don't see in their lives, but I sometimes I get  upset that my life isn't more like someone else's or where I think I should be or what I should have. I try to remind myself of this amazing blog post, and I also remind myself of all the great things in my life. I know I am not the only one who struggles with this. End of "heavy" confession.

2. Guess who made the "hot teacher" list. Me! The list was found in a desk in an 8th grade English class. My confession is that this was probably the highlight of my school year week. I figure I only have a couple years left where I can make a list like that so I will just enjoy the fact I was on it.

3. I didn't really blog at all last week because of the sickness that made it so I didn't want to get out of bed, much less try to write out a complete sentence, so I didn't post my confessions. When I was feeling better this weekend, I did go through and read some of the posts that were linked up, but I felt funny about it, like I didn't pay my admission to the show or something.

4. I was kind of bummed my pillow post hasn't gotten the comments feedback like I thought it would. The Mister even called me out on looking at my stats after I posted it. You know that is bad when the hubby calls you out.

5. On Tuesday, it was supposed to snow hard enough that we might have a snow day or delay, and I prayed that we would have a full regular day. My prayers came true. I have not taught a full 5 day week in weeks now (that counts my being sick, holidays, budget cut days, grading days etc), and I totally notice a difference in my students behavior on "weird" weeks. I just really needed some normalcy in my classroom. Especially since spring break starts next week. Oy.

Midweek Confessions

Today is The Mister and my's (I's, me...???) first official dating anniversary. Our first date was on leap day 4 years ago, so this is the first time we can officially celebrate it. I know that now that we are married it is kind of silly to celebrate the our first date, but it's kind of a fun day. We are headed to dinner at the same place we went four years ago. He even called a few days ago to reserve the same table. He's so cute!

Enough of that :) Its time for some confessin'!

lounge

Why yes, I did polyvore my lazy clothes. However, somehow I picked out $90 sweatpants. Feel free to pin it. Ha!

This is pretty much what my husband sees my wearing 85% of the time. After work I go to the gym and then after that I shower and put on a pair of sweats or jammie pants and an oversized t-shirt. Then the Mister comes home from work. I feel bad. BUT not bad enough to put on "real" clothes after my shower to lounge around the house in.

I knew I was going to have the Mister take this picture, so I put on my "nice" sweats. They're nice because they're black, and don't have spaghetti sauce stains on them.

I can't help but pop zits on my face. I know every reason why I shouldn't, but I can't help myself.

Sometimes I day dream about what I would do if I wasn't a teacher. I settle on waitress or working in a library. I know that those jobs seem some what lackluster for day dreams, but I waitressed for a summer and it was some of the most fun that I have had at a job. And I like books. And the smell of libraries.

Have you ever seen the "trending now" sections on websites like yahoo or msn? Sometimes I don't believe them. I mean, how can Jaleel White be the most searched for term?
I just went back to yahoo and clicked on it and apparently he is going to be on Dancing With the Stars.

What are you confessing this week friends? Head on over to me,myself and I and link up!

Mid Week Confessions: Take 7

Wednesday! Who has some confessin' to do??? Head on over to e,myself and I and check it out!

The Mister totally beat me at Valentine's this year: tulips, a milk chocolate lady bug, a card and a super cute bird necklace from this etsy shop. I got him some Hershey Kisses and some chore coupons. I didn't even get him a card.

I bought this settee last weekend for $5 at a garage sale with the intent of recovering it. I am realizing now this will be harder than I had originally thought.
Actually, I wasn't thinking. I saw it was $5 and thought "ooh! I like projects."

I am terrible at keeping secrets. So much so that I won't hang out with people until I don't have to keep the secret any more.

I teared up during Jennifer Hudson's Grammy performance of I Will Always Love You.

I really want to know if Jennifer Aniston is pregnant or not. My secret pal at work got me a Star magazine and the cover story was about Jennifer's twins that she is expecting. But hasn't she been pregnant for the last 2 or 3 years?
School was closed the last two Mondays (furlough day and Presidents Day). I decided to take a personal day on Friday just because I can. The Mister asked if I ever work. I do, I just don't want to this week.

Take 6... Mid Week Confessions

I can't believe I have been doing this for 6 weeks now! The time is flying by! As always, please click the button and read everyone else's confessions!

1. I have been loving the first two episodes of The Voice. I watched it last season and found it was just different enough from Idol that it kept my attention. BUT, can Christina Aguilera PLEASE find a shirt to contain her boobs. It is distracting when your ta-tas are falling out while you are talking.

2. Speaking of The Voice, don't Blake Shelton and Adam Levine make a yummy man sandwich?

3. Since I am all caught up on the Alex Cross novels and the Sookie Stackhouse series, I started a new one: The Stephanie Plum books by Janet Evonavich. I know that I am about 18 years late to jump on this bandwagon, but they are a really fun read. Funny, has some action, and easy to get through. These are a perfect spring/summer read.

4. I get really embarrassed when someone replies to an email I sent and I notice a ton of typos in my original message.

5. The Mister read through some of my old blog posts and my confessions.  I can no longer get away with sleeping through my cat puking in the middle of the night.

6. I like watching college Jeopardy. I know some of the answers. I REALLY like it when it is high school Jeopardy. I feel like a genius then.

7. Somedays I wish my prep period was in the middle of the school day so I could take a power nap at my desk.

What do you have to confess this week?

Mid Week Confessions

PLEASE go over to e, myself, and I and read all of the confessions. You will feel better about all your quirky little things!

1. I love trashy novels. I just finished up the 11th book in the Southren Vampire Mystery Series. Those are the books True Blood is based off of. The only problem is I feel like I have to lie on my "What Am I Reading" poster up in my classroom.

2. Our meal plan this week looks like one of my middle school students wrote it: pancakes, grilled cheese and tomato soup, beans and fritos, and baked potatoes. I feel a little bad, but its all pretty yummy and easy to make, so I'm okay with it.

3. The Mister's birthday is Friday and I think I totally failed at his presents. I think both will be returned.

4. My classroom has an ant infestation. That in itself is gross, but some got into my microwave. Super gross. My confession is that I turned on the microwave to kill them AND they were still alive after a minute.

5. My cell phone is 4 years old. The Mister's phone is 6 or 7 years old. We are pretty cool.

6. I really want a Kindle or an iPad just so I can get a cute case from etsy then I could whip out the cuteness at Starbucks.

7. I am kind of turning into a hermit. Most times I would rather hang out at home then go out. Does that mean I am getting old? Or am I just boring?

My Mid Week Confessions

Whoop! Its Wednesday, that means only two more days until the weekend! I always feel good on Wednesday AND e, myself and I is hosting Mid-Week Confessions!

1.
I am a terrible driver. When I was 16 I got the lowest possible passing score on my drivers test.

2.
My "maintenance required" light has been on since the beginning of November. I have no idea why.

3.
Sometimes when I am driving (to work especially!) I will all the sudden realize I am driving and not remember the last 2 or 3 miles.

4.
I am addicted to celebrity gossip. Perez Hilton was one of the first blogs I ever read consistently. I still read TMZ on a daily basis.

5.
I was really upset to hear about Seal and Heidi Klum. For whatever reason, I thought they would make it.

6.
Every time I get woken up in the middle of the night by my cat puking up a hairball, I pretend I am still asleep and the Mister gets up and cleans it.

Mid-week Confessions- take 3

Wasn't there an R. Kelly song and in the chorus he sings "these are my confessions?" Maybe it was Usher. Every time I go to start writing (or reading!) these posts, that song pops into my head.

Boom. Thank you Youtube.

-I really enjoy going to Zumba. Like a lot. Yesterday though my Zumba class was ruined for me. You see, there is this older woman that goes to my gym and she has taken a variety of group fitness classes. This woman yells out these "whoop whoop" noises for the entire hour we are in class. She does this in every class. I'm not sure if it bothers any one else, but it really throws me out of my zone. She showed up to my Zumba class and immediately started with the "whoop whoops." I was almost to the point that I wanted to walk out of class early. I know I just need to suck it up, because its not like I can say anything to her. I do hope that when I am her age I will still get down in a Zumba class.
- I want to cut my hair. I like it at chin length. BUT I also really like using hot rollers and making my hair curly. These are the big problems in life friends.
-Actually, I really like getting compliments from my students on my curled hair.
-Yesterday we had a two hour delay due to "inclimate weather." Only about half my classes showed up all day. I scrapped my lesson plan and showed a video on teen obesity. And then gave out a crossword puzzle. Teacher of the Year Award here I come.
-My case of baby fever has gotten a bit bigger. I blame it on this picture.
This is me, the Mister, and the Mister's best friend's 3 year old daughter.

-I am getting slightly obsessed with buying fabric. I would be buying a lot more, except the ladies who do the fabric cutting always ask what you are making. Would it be weird to say, I just want to buy all these pretty fabrics to look at and organize in my craft room?
-I want to learn to quilt. Mostly so that I can make my future baby's bedding. And so I can buy more fabric.
-I am looking for new books to read. Anytime I ask for suggestions I hear "Hunger Games." The more I get told to read it, the less I want to. I know I am just being stubborn, I did the same thing with Harry Potter. (FYI- I did eventually read them all.)
-I bought one of those single cup coffee makers with my Christmas money. I love it. Except I want to drink 3 or 4 cups of coffee a morning day.

Did you link up this week?

Mid week confessions.

It's time for some confessin'!

-I am addicted to TV on DVD. The Mister is too. We watched the entire series of Friday Night Lights in 4 weeks. That wouldn't be that bad if we didn't have to wait for 2 weeks for seasons 2-5 to be delivered to us from Amazon.
- Currently we are watching Parks and Rec on DVD. I have literally watched between 3-4 episodes a day since we got them. Including all the deleted scenes.
- I have taken down all the Christmas decor, BUT it is living in plastic totes that I still haven't taken out of the living room.
- I think I am getting the itch-- you know kind of like a very mild, non-contagious case of baby fever. The Mister and I are not really ready to have one yet, as we like to go on vacation and spend money on ourselves, but I am surrounded by newborns and pregnant ladies. I think I am feeling left out of the baby party.
- I got 3 different gift certificates for salons/beauty places for Christmas. Was I being sent a message?
- I must apologize to all the non-teachers reading this before I continue. I have only been back at work for a week and a half and I am already counting down to spring break. At least Monday is MLK Jr. Day.
- I am a health teacher and right now I am in the middle of teaching 8th graders all about eating healthy. In my head, all I can think about is eating cheese pizza. And washing it down with some chocolate milk.

These are my confessions

I have been reading E, Myself and I for awhile now, and for the last couple weeks she has been hosting a little midweek confession link up party. I think it's about time I do some confessing :)

- When I make a dinner with a protein, veggie and a starch, I feel like I should win wife of the year award. (Even if one or more of those items comes from a can or box)
- I'm kind of struggling with being 30. Its been about a week and I am over it.
-I like eating healthy, but I REALLY like eating convenient more. I try to make my healthy foods convenient (cut up veggies, hard boiled eggs, prewashing/cutting my fruit) but do you know what else is convenient? Oreos.
-Every time I go to the grocery store, I buy myself a treat. Sometimes it is a diet Coke, other times it is a Cookies and Cream Hershey bar.
-Sometimes, at the grocery store, I buy both. And eat them in the car before I get home.
- I live less than a mile from the grocery store.
-I hate doing my hair in the morning before work. I wish messy bun/braid was acceptable everyday at work.
-On Monday, I reorganized some of my pins on pinterest, and then felt like I had accomplished something with my day.
-I get mad that my dog likes the Mister more than me.
- Sometimes at work, I really want to squirt my students with a squirt bottle when they are not paying attention.

Do you have any confessions>
