An update...

I feel like it wasn't all that long ago that I had to write a similar post to this. Last night my dear Mother in Law passed away after an 18 month battle with cancer. She was hospitalized over Thanksgiving, and after a week stay, she was sent home with hospice care. Her sister, a retired nurse, also was with her pretty much every day. We, including all 8 of her brothers and sisters, her parents and several nieces and nephews, were able to celebrate her birthday last week, and she was talking and socializing and feeling okay.

On Monday my husband got a call to head to his parents house immediately. The family was able to really say our goodbyes, and she was still communicative. We have been in somewhat of a holding pattern since. But nothing can really prepare you for that phone call.

It's hard being the spouse this time. I am hurting myself, but I am hurting so much for my husband. It's hard to know what to do, when really nothing is going to fix it.

Randoms

Has anyone seen the Kohl's commercial where the young couple decorates their old lady neighbor's apartment? Tears. Every. Time. At least now they stay in my eyes, and don't  run down my cheeks.

We finally got some snow! I say finally since we didn't get any last winter. PLUS It hasn't been above freezing here in over a week, and then Friday we got moisture. (if you don't remember grade school science cold+moisture= snow) Monday we even had a two hour delay. Which is way better than a full snow day. (We have to make up snow days in June)

My two cats still aren't getting along. It's been 14 months. Usually they can sit in the same room, but there is hissing at least once a week and one is always staring down the other unless they are asleep.

I saw this at pinterest and just about died. The PE teacher at my school is WAY too intense. I think he forgets that he is teaching middle school PE and coaching 8th grade football. I feel like I can judge since I taught PE for several years.
Uggh, I wish I had this in school!!!

I love watching singing competitions. (Not so much Idol, but the Voice and for sure the Sing Off) It makes me wish I could sing. Also when ever I am standing at the end of a long empty hallway (like when I am staying a bit late at work) I wish I could do back flips. I also wish I could play an instrument, draw well, and speak another language. Pretty much I wish I had talent.

I have fallen off the meal planning wagon. I am trying to get back to it, slowly. Any easy dinner ideas?

The Rules

I have some rules that I follow, almost 100% of the time. Some may call them quirks.

1. Wooden spoons must be used when cooking the following dishes: refried beans, macaroni and cheese and creamy soups.

2. Macaroni and cheese should be eaten with a fork. So should mashed potatoes. (I have a friend that insists on using a spoon. She is wrong.) The only exception is when you are only eating mashed potatoes for dinner. Then a spoon is the logical utensil.

3. Socks should match. I know that isn't a very cool thing to say, but it really bothers me when my socks are different thicknesses.

4. Black ink > blue ink.

5. Mints, tic tacks, skittles, M &M etc should be eaten in odd numbers.

6. If I am out to eat with a group of people, 90% of the time I will get a chicken Cesar salad. Mostly because I take forever looking at a menu, and I don't want to hold up the group. It is my fall back meal.

7. I try to not let my car get below a quarter of a tank of gas.

What are your quirks??
